Mageia는 자유와 오픈-소스 소프트웨어로 배포되는 리눅스-기반 운영 시스템입니다. 그것은 맨드레이크 리눅스 배포판에서 분기되었습니다.[4][5] 그리스 용어 mageía (μαγεία)는 매혹, 요염, 매력, 마법을 의미합니다.[6]

Installation

과거에 레드햇 리눅스(RedHat Linux)가 왕성하게 개발되고 있을 때, 맨드레이크 리눅스(Mandrake Linux)가 새로운 배포판으로 어느 정도의 인기를 누렸습니다. 프랑스에서 만들어진 맨드레이크 리눅스와 브라질에서 만들어진 코넥티바 리눅스(Conectiva Linux)가 합쳐지면서 맨드리바 리눅스(Mandriva Linux)라는 이름이 지어졌습니다. 맨드리바 리눅스는 2011년 8월을 마지막으로 더이상 출시가 되지 않고, 여기서 나온 배포판 중에 하나가 Mageia입니다.

홈페이지 다운로드 지면에서 3가지 유형의 파일을 구할 수 있습니다.

  • Classic Installation: 3.7GB
  • Live Media: 1.7GB
  • Network Installation: 50MB

네트워크 설치는 가까운 미러가 있을 때에는 시간이 많이 걸리지 않지만, 한국 내에 미러가 없을 때에는 이용하지 않는 것이 좋습니다. 여기서는 라이브 미디어를 받아서 설치해 보겠습니다.

라이브 미디어는 3가지 데스크탑 환경으로 만들어져 있습니다.

  • Plasma Desktop
  • GNOME Desktop
  • Xfce Desktop

요즘 사용하고 있는 그놈 데스크탑 버전을 받습니다.

이건 64비트만 지원을 합니다.

토렌트와 직접 연결을 선택할 수 있는데, 토렌트로 받아 보았습니다. 속도는 괜찮게 나오는 편이었고, 5분 이내에 받아집니다.

설치 시작

그럽 메뉴에 설치 메뉴가 있지만, 제일 위에 있는 라이브 모드로 부팅을 합니다. 생각보다 부팅이 오래 걸립니다. 설치 모드와 같은 화면이 이릅니다. :-(

  • Please choose a language to use: English (American)을 선택합니다.
  • Do you accept this license?: Agree를 눌러야 Ok가 활성화됩니다.
  • Which is your timezone?: 선택한 언어에 맞게 기본값이 정해집니다. Asia/Seoul을 선택합니다.
  • What is the best time?: local time을 선택합니다.
  • Please choose your keyboard layout.: Korean을 선택합니다.

여기까지는 라이브 시디 환경을 구축하는 것입니다. 그놈 화면이 올라오면, Activities->Install on Hard Disk를 실행합니다.

  • This wizard will help you to install the live distribution: Next를 선택합니다.
  • The DrakX Partitioning wizard found the following solutions: Use free space를 선택합니다.
  • 하드웨어 자동 검색을 해서 필요없는 것들은 선택해 줍니다.
  • Bootloader, Main options, Security: Password만 입력합니다.
  • 부트로더 옵션을 정합니다: 기본값으로 진행합니다.
  • 설치가 완료되었습니다: 재시작합니다.

부팅을 하기 위해서는 username: root password: Bootloader Password를 입력합니다.

  • Set administrator (root) password: root 암호를 설정합니다.
  • Enter a user: 새로운 사용자륻 만듭니다.

이 설치 방법은 라이브 시디의 내용을 복사하는 방법으로 보입니다. 전통적인 설치 방법과는 조금 차이가 있습니다.

매체를 전통적인 설치 방법이 가능한 DVD를 받습니다. 토렌트 파일로 받으면, 10분 정도 걸렸습니다.

  • PARTITIONING: 기본값
  • MEDIA SELECTION: 기본값(None)
  • MEDIA SELECTION: 패키지 선택입니다. 기본값으로 진행합니다.
  • DESKTOP SELECTION: Gnome
  • INSTALLING: 조금 시간이 걸립니다.
  • USER MANAGEMENT:
  • MONITOR: 기본값(자동검색)으로 진행합니다.
  • SUMMARY: 여러가지 설정을 변경합니다.
  • UPDATES: No를 선택합니다.
  • 설치 종료. 재시작합니다.

Configurations

Activities->Mageia Control Center를 선택합니다.

Update your system

한국에 미러가 없습니다. JP 미러를 이용합니다. 중간에 설치 DVD를 원할 수도 있습니다. 이럴 때는 해당 DVD를 마운트해야 진행됩니다.

Install & Remove Software

  • 한글 입력기: ibus-hangul을 선택합니다.
  • 한글 폰트: fonts-ttf-korean, google-noto-sans-cjk-fonts

History

Mageia was created in 2010 as a fork of Mandriva Linux,[4][5][9] by a group of former employees of Mandriva S.A. and several other developers and users and supporters of the Mandriva community.

On September 2, 2010, Edge IT, one of the subsidiaries of Mandriva, was placed under liquidation process by the Tribunal de commerce in Paris;[10][11] effective by September 17, all assets were liquidated and employees were let go.

The next day, on September 18, 2010, some of these former employees, who were mostly responsible for the development and maintenance of the Mandriva Linux distribution, and several community members announced the creation of Mageia, with the support of many members of the community of developers, users and employees of Mandriva Linux.[12]
